Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This occasion offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match against a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward finish.
Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the protests.
The formerArsenal man didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.
Shelbourne were clinging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for two agricultural challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
