Liverpool's Star Issues Regret to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the fallout from his recent interview.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match following criticising the club and suggesting his connection to the head coach had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the team's response remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
Jones also implied that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re gelling well as a team, playing well and on a positive run.”
