Liz Truss, kicked off the first edition of her YouTube show with a vow to unmask "malicious actors" working to weaken Western democracies. She stated she would uncover how an "global web of leftists function to subvert the democratic process and the public's choice."

"We're going to look at the Maga phenomenon and observe how it can be replicated in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the prominent voices of the Maga movement."

Prior to the program's debut, there was a notably ardent backer. "This is the beginning of a kind of revolution," stated veteran reporter John Solomon. The right-leaning media outlet Just the News will host the Truss's new audio shows.

Establishing Ties in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, featuring a pro-Reform adviser, played a role in her set up the Truss's program. Its staging is adequate, though simple. The show has attracted 10,000 subscribers in her initial seven days and her premiere achieved 67,000 views during that week.

It is a modest start, but in partnering with Solomon, the former PM is being thrust into a established right-wing media network generating and disseminating Make America Great Again themes. Its obsessions involve claims of media suppression by the mainstream media and a desire to eradicate a so-called administrative state – a force that she attributes her downfall to for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"The platform is not famous beyond the pro-Trump media sphere, but it does have gravitas there, primarily thanks to Solomon, who gives commentary on pro-Trump shows like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even spoken with the former president," commented Alex Hinton, who has analyzed the Trumpist political wave.

A Divisive Associate

Truss's attempt to transplant American conservative media to the United Kingdom has pushed her closer to divisive personalities such as Solomon.

He established his media outlet following backlash after he was accused of circulating inaccurate reports about Joe Biden's anticorruption effort in Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about the former US ambassador to Ukraine.

His claims were repeated throughout the pro-Trump outlets, with the journalist featuring as a common interviewee on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News show. Donald Trump endorsed the journalist's work.

He wrote the Ukraine claims in a number of opinion pieces for the outlet The Hill, after having been re-designated as an opinion writer when staffers raised concerns over his articles. His narratives were pivotal in the then-president's request for the officials in Kyiv to investigate Hunter Biden and his father in that year. These actions led to impeachment charges against Trump. Senators later acquitted the president.

Shortly after Solomon left the Hill in autumn 2019, the outlet announced it was carrying out a examination of his reporting concerning Ukrainian matters. It concluded Solomon had used unreliable sources and noted he "failed to identify crucial information about main Ukrainian informants, specifically the fact that they had been indicted or were under investigation."

Joining the Network

Solomon's own TV and radio guest spots are a sign of the conservative ecosystem Truss is joining. Solomon mentioned his support for Truss's project on a program he presents on the right-wing channel, a political media platform that is where you find the conservative firebrand former adviser Steve Bannon and on which former Fox host Tucker Carlson also features. Truss has already hosted the political operative on a debut installment.

Through her association with the journalist and his outlet, she has become a minor player in a much wider network of right-wing publications that frequently amplify each other's content.

His personal broadcasts have repeatedly hosted individuals such as influencer Mike Benz, a political voice whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was referenced by the tech billionaire as reasoning behind dismantling the international development organization.

A Global Media Play

Although Truss's stilted style and political travails have been mocked within the UK, a number of stateside commentators do not dismiss her attempts to revamp her image as a UK offshoot of the Maga media.

"One must regard folks like that seriously, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," commented a Democratic strategist, who worked in the Biden White House.

"It was evident how in the recent campaign President Trump used that media network to spread his narrative. Certainly that sphere spreads and shapes discourse internationally. It appears quite apparent to me that the environment in the UK are similar to what allowed this non-mainstream media network to flourish here."

Alan Finlayson, said the internet-based conservative network was already exerting influence in the UK.

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," he stated. "There exists a sort of atmosphere within which ideas travel – sometimes appearing in harsh versions and other times more moderately – but which is interlinked."

Hinton said the growth of the online right in the UK lately meant the "potential to have a larger effect is substantial."
